1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Rova Marketplace ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our platform. These terms apply to all visitors, users, buyers, sellers, and agents.
2. Platform Description
Rova Marketplace is an online property listing platform serving East Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Mozambique, Zambia, and Malawi. We connect property buyers, renters, sellers, and real estate agents. We are not a party to transactions between users.
3. User Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- You may not create accounts for other people without their consent.
- Rova reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Listing Policies
- All listings must represent genuine, lawfully owned or mandated properties.
- Fraudulent, misleading, or duplicate listings are strictly prohibited.
- Sellers must have the legal right to sell, rent, or manage properties they list.
- Photos must accurately represent the property being listed.
- Rova reserves the right to remove any listing that violates these policies without notice.
- All listings are subject to review before going live on the platform.
5. Commission & Fees
Rova charges a 2% commission on successful property sales transactions facilitated through the platform. There are no upfront listing fees for standard listings. Featured placement options are available at additional cost. We only earn when you succeed.
6. Verification Programme
Our 3-tier verification system (Basic, Verified, Trusted Agent) is designed to build trust on the platform. Verification status may be revoked if a seller is found to have submitted fraudulent documents or violates platform policies. Verification does not constitute legal endorsement of any property or transaction.
7. Prohibited Activities
- Posting fraudulent, misleading, or scam listings
- Impersonating other users, agents, or Rova staff
- Scraping, harvesting, or extracting user data without consent
- Using the platform for money laundering or illegal transactions
- Attempting to bypass our verification or moderation systems
- Sending unsolicited commercial messages to other users
8. Limitation of Liability
Rova Marketplace is a technology platform and is not responsible for the accuracy of listings, the conduct of users, or the outcome of property transactions. We strongly recommend using a licensed lawyer for all title transfers and engaging only with verified sellers. Rova shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or expense arising from the use of this platform.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or WhatsApp. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, country, and city.
- Verification documents: National ID, passport, selfie, business registration (for verified/trusted tiers only).
- Listing information: Property details, photos, location, and pricing you provide.
- Usage data: Pages visited, search queries, listing views, and device information.
- Communications: Messages sent through the platform's inquiry system.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Rova Marketplace platform
- To verify seller identity as part of our trust programme
- To facilitate connections between buyers and sellers
- To send you notifications about inquiries, listings, and platform updates
- To detect and prevent fraud and scam activity
- To generate anonymised analytics for platform improvement
3. Verification Document Security
Verification documents (National ID, passports, business certificates) are encrypted using AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit. They are stored on secure, access-controlled servers and are only accessible to authorised Rova verification staff. They are never shared publicly, sold to third parties, or displayed on your profile. Documents are deleted after 12 months if your application is rejected.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information in these circumstances:
- With your consent: When you choose to share contact information with a buyer or seller.
- Legal compliance: If required by law enforcement or court order in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Service providers: Trusted technical partners (hosting, SMS) under strict data agreements.
5. Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update inaccurate information in your account settings.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for marketing purposes.

6. Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember language preferences, and analyse platform usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect platform functionality.
7. Data Retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Inactive accounts are purged after 24 months. Verification documents are retained for active accounts and deleted 12 months after account closure. Transaction records may be retained for 7 years for legal compliance.
